Having missed my opportunities to see Krokus in the 80’s I figured the opportunity would never present itself again. In 1983, I heard the song “Eat the Rich” on the local station 99.5 Kiss and shortly after picked up the bands stellar release – Headhunter. Unfortunately they had just recently played San Antonio as direct support for Def Leppard. In 1985, they returned in support of the 84 release The Blitz, this time as headliners, but to this day I don’t know how I missed that show. After that I don’t recall ever seeing them come back through Texas. Would I ever get to hear any of those monster cuts found on those albums and others that came before them?
Fast forward 30 years and that slim chance has now become a reality as Krokus have embarked upon a small US tour in 2015 and Dallas is one of the luck towns to be graced with the presence of these Swiss rock legends. The only other time they were in the States in the last 25 years was for a small tour in 2005 but Texas was not fortunate enough to be a part of the jaunt. So this night was extremely special given the circumstances. A head banger’s Hailey’s Comet siting if you will. Even more special is that 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the band, which these days, only a handful has reached that milestone.
